Mailing
frequency, or 'how often you send a newsletter to your customers'
is one of the most important considerations in creating a
successful E-Mail marketing campaign. You want to be sure
your mailing frequency is appropriate. If a frequency promise
was made at opt-in (e.g., the promise of a quarterly e-mail
newsletter or saying you wouldn't contact them more than once
a month), you'll want to stick to that.
If not, be sure you're not bombarding them or sending so infrequently
they forget about you.
In general, less than once a month is probably too infrequent
to maintain the continuity of the relationship, and more than
once a week is usually a bit much unless they've specifically
agreed to that frequency. Once a month is generally a good
frequency to maintain.
OK, so now you've committed to sending a monthly email newsletter,
but now you're worried because... well, what if you can't
think of anything to say? |
To keep those creative juices flowing all year round, make
sure you always keep a well-stocked supply of ideas:
- Keep
a notebook handy
— at work, at home, in the car. Whenever an idea
hits you, write it down.
- Surf
the Internet regularly and bookmark Web pages
or sites that contain good ideas.
- Subscribe
to other email newsletters and save the useful
issues in a separate folder in your inbox.
- Save
those magazines,
too. Better yet, if a particular article sparks your imagination,
tear out the pages and file them — recycle the rest.
- Ask
readers to send in suggestions.
Save their emails in a separate folder in your inbox.
The first few issues are always the hardest. After that,
your readers can help drive the content.
